Hi all, I just got back from Bali 2 days ago. I bought A LOT of stuff there, including a Ralph Lauren polo tee. However, when I got home, I read online that Bali has loads of fake RL stuff! I'm totally confused, and I hope you guys can help. Here are some details:
1. I bought it from Matahari Department Store in the Kuta area (department stores are supposed to sell real stuff, right?!)
2. It's black in color, with the big pony in front and number "9" on the side; both are in gold.
3. The tag at the collar says "Polo by Ralph Lauren", and the lower tag (the one with the care instructions) says it's made in Indonesia.
4. The buttons are white in color and say "POLO RALPH LAUREN"
Is there any way to tell if my tee is authentic? Any help at all will be much appreciated! THANKS! =)

Though I am not any specialist in Ralph Lauren particularly, but I have had experience with fakes in department store - and that's in Canada. Let alone, Bali, which you said already has a bad reputation of selling knock-offs. I was tricked into believing I was buying an brand name hoodie, in a department store before I realized it was a fake. Cant bear myself to wear it... Try yours on. Does it feel like the same fit you get from the real ones? Not saying that the real ones aren't made in China as well... but the brand itself is who have reputations to uphold. The big nine leads me to believe its counterfeit.
it should say ''3'' instead.

No. matahari is such a big and well-known dept. store in Indonesia. They NEVER ever sell a fake stuff, so you shouldn't be worry :) I'm sure what's yours is authentic but maybe that's an old version if it has the different number on the back.

IMO, all Polo Ralph Lauren stores and their products are not from the company based in the USA. The Brand has been registered by an Indonesian company and the courts allowed it. Polo Ralph Lauren USA are not allowed by Indonesian Courts to retail in Indonesia.

ReplyDeletePolo is even sold in department stores in the USA. It is a original and good quality. Lived in indonesia for a decade and they are good quality. Ralph Lauren is now also abailable in indonesia at premium prices.

ReplyDeleteIt's genuine polo ralph lauren Indonesia. The faker. Not Ralph Lauren USA. The history, ralph lauren USA beaten down by the faker in Indonesia in registration. So you can call it legalized fake.
